Regarding energy saving measures in the building sector to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, the control of energy supply systems has proven to have a decisive influence. Therefore, the use of model-predictive control is a promising approach. An analysis of optimizing operations using a multi-objective approach within the field of energy systems has been carried out. Furthermore, the integration of battery-electric vehicles for demand-side management purposes has been examined.
For this purpose, a study of various multicriteria optimization methods has been conducted where the weighted sum and the epsilon constraint method are identified as the most promising methods. Based on the results, the user has the choice to make a trade-off between the reduction of operational costs and caused greenhouse gas emissions. However, the results of the multicriteria optimization imply a vast potential to decrease greenhouse gas emissions depending on the used building energy system.
The capability of demand-side management is improved through the integration of battery-electric vehicles as part of the building energy system. The amount is yet significantly related to the capacity of the used battery and the behavior of the user, but nonetheless is an electric vehicle capable of increasing the domestic use of a proper PV or CHP and thus contribute to cost and emission savings.
