Heat Pump Forum 2019

Brussels, Belgium

15-16 May 2019

Organized by the European Heat Pump Association, the annual Heat Pump Forum aims to bring the European community together on a platform to present current trends and, in particular, debate important issues. Laura Maier and Philipp Mehrfeld represented the EBC at the conference. Although representatives of many manufacturers were present, talks were held exclusively by representatives of national heat pump associations or companies from the energy sector. That means direct heat pump manufacturers had no opportunity to present themselves in the form of oral presentations.

Particular emphasis was placed on the topic of decarbonisation until 2050 and the flexibility that can be offered by heat pump systems in combination with thermal and electrical storages. The ecological focus was highlighted by a short speech by the 11-year-old Marian Jones, a member of the Kids for Climate movement.

Technical hurdles of the technology heat pump itself as well as the F-gas debate were only briefly discussed.
