In recent years, legislative authorities have increased the requirements with regards to thermic insulation
of new buildings and rehabilitations.While this results in decreasing outward transmission
losses, the relevance of heat displacement inside the building in turn increases. The objective of this
bachelor thesis is to quantify and compare the heat transmission via the building thermic envelope
and inside the building
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to quantify and compare the heat transmission via the building
thermic envelope and inside the building. The heat transmissions are determined by using the
example of two existing apartment buildings. These buildings were constructed in the 1950s and
within the scope of a research project extensively renovated. With the goal of validating the rehabilitation
measures, one part of the respective research project was the installation of an elaborate
monitoring system inside and outside the apartments.
To determine the heat transmissions, models of the buildings will be generated using the modeling
languageModelica. The room temperatures as well as the meteorological data needed for simulation
are delivered by the monitoring system.
The first part of this bachelor thesis will explain the established models and the underlying heat
transmission mechanisms. Subsequently, the effect of each of the mechanisms on the entire heat
transmission process will be illustrated. Finally, the simulation results will be analyzed.
Initially, the heat losses via the building envelope will be discussed, while also depicting the dependency
of this process on the outside temperature. As a next step, the heat transmissions between
the apartments, and as a result the heat losses to the staircase, will be shown. After that, the heat
transmissions will be compared in order to determine the crucial factors of the entire process of
