Political guidelines such as the F-Gas Regulation provide for a reduction of refrigerants with a high global warming potential (GWP). For this reason, the development of heat pumps with low GWP refrigerants is being focused on.
One of these refrigerants is combustible gas propane (R290). The use of propane is subject to strict regulations regarding fire and explosion protection. These must be met in order to develop heat pumps with this refrigerant.
As part of this work, the hydraulic system for supplying a hardware-in-the-loop test bench for flammable refrigerants is designed and constructed.
During the conception phase, requirements are defined and the existing hall planning is revised. Subsequently, hydraulic circuits are analysed and evaluated. The pressure loss of the system is considered.
After selecting a hydraulic circuit, the individual components of the system are then designed. The aim is to increase the control range of the test bench.
The consequences of the choice of components is an extension of the test bench's limits. The minimum volume flow has been further reduced, while larger volume flows can also be set in comparison to the existing test benches. Furthermore, shorter distances between actuator and sensor reduce dead times. This has advantages for regulation technology.
