The course was renamed "Dynamic Models for Energy Supply Systems" starting from winter semester 2020/21 in connection with the restructuring of the mechanical engineering master's program. The contents correspond to the course "Simulation of Building's Technical Systems".
The module starts with an introduction to the modeling language Modelica using the simulation environment Dymola. Subsequently, the two main topics heating and ventilation technology are dealt with. Here, both the technical basics of building energy systems and the modelling of the components and subsystems used are taught. In the field of heating technology, the individual components of a system are examined, starting with the piping, the heat generator (boiler, heat pump, solar thermal), the storage tank, the transfer (radiators, panel heating), and ending with the simulation of a single-family house including system technology.
The second part of the event, ventilation and air conditioning, will conclude with the simulation of an office room. The required components (air duct network, heat recovery units and conditioning units for the humid air (dehumidifier/ humidifier)) will be explained and implemented beforehand.
The acquired knowledge is transferable to the simulation of other energy systems.
