This lecture will take place in summer semester 2020. Due to the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic, we are currently working on a digital teaching concept. The topics of the lecture will be made available as online materials with videos in RWTHmoodle as far as possible. The exercise will also be implemented via online materials and zoom meetings. Both events will be further supported by an exchange in RWTHmoodle.

In this lecture, the physical and technical basics of alternative energy techniques are taught. Among other things, the technology fields of wind energy, biomass utilization, hydropower, solar thermal energy, photovoltaics and geothermal energy are discussed in detail. Furthermore, the technology areas of energy storage and heat recovery, which are becoming ever more important with the use of renewable energies, will be taken up. In addition to basic knowledge, current developments and research questions are discussed.
