Europeans spend most of their life inside buildings or transportation vehicles. Therefore, a comfortable indoor climate is on of the basic needs and greatly influences the productivity as well as health factors. On the other hand, our society currently faces the challange of using natural resources and energy sources sustainably. For this reason, climate control of indoor rooms has to become more energy efficient.

This lecture offers an introduction to basic calculation methods applied in air-conditiong technology and imparts an overview of highly resource-conserving techniques for air-conditioning.

  • Comfort requirements
  • Thermal loads in buildings / transport
  • Dynamic cooling load calculations
  • Air distribution systems
  • Air/Water Systems
  • Energy analysis and optimization
  • Potential for integration of renewable energy systems in air-conditioning technology
