In future energy systems for buildings, data and communication technology will play a decisive role, since it is only through a network of different components and information that more comfort with less energy can be achieved. In addition, information technology solutions allow better use of self-generated electricity as well as grid-supportive behavior of buildings. The joint software development team of the two institutes "Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate" and "Automation and Complex Power Systems" is developing new network-based energy service solutions by exploiting the exponential increase in computing capacity together with the massive expansion of cloud computing.
