Fields of activity
Sarah Welter is part of the projects regulatory sandbox SmartQuart and the accompanying scientific research (BF Quartier). She works on the non-technical factors that influence the energy efficiency of buildings and neighbourhoods. These include investment incentives and economic barriers of energy-efficient neighbourhoods. Her research interests is also on the acceptance of new energy-efficient technologies by stakeholders and how participation can help to increase it.

Sarah Welter studied economics and business economics at Maastricht University and obtained her M.Sc. in economics with the specialization in game theory and behavioral economics at the University of Amsterdam in 2016. Furthermore, she worked as a research associate in the field of economic impact assessment for M-Five GmbH in Karlsruhe. Since May 2019, Sarah Welter works as a research associate in the team Urban Energy Systems.
