Fields of activity
Kai Rewitz is involved in the investigation and development of energy-efficient air conditioning strategies in buildings and in vehicle cabins, especially with regard to the use of electric vehicles. He is also involved with subject studies and their analyses of thermal comfort and uses these in connection with the further development of thermophysiological models. Other work topics include the development of cloud-connected sensor systems for detection of indoor conditions, the involvement of users via user interfaces by means of feedback and feedforward approaches for user-centered building operation optimization, and the analysis and improvement of indoor air quality with respect to different loads and their influence on human odor perception and health.

Kai Rewitz obtained his diploma in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University in 2012 and subsequently started working as a research assistant at the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate. Since 2019, he leads the Team Occupant Behavior and Comfort. In 2020, he completed his dissertation on the topic of Modeling Thermal Comfort in Cabin Environments with distinction. Since 2021, he also works as a senior engineer in the management level of the institute.
