Fields of activity
Jan Richarz works in the team of Holistic Building Design and Management on the Scientific Accompanying Research. He is concerned with data collection and cross-sectional analysis of the projects in the research area Energy in Buildings and Neighbourhoods.
Furthermore, he is engaged in the determination of optimal energetic retrofit measures of the building energy system of non-residential buildings. For this purpose, multi-criteria optimization problems are set up and solved by using evolutionary algorithms
From 2011 until 2017 Jan Richarz studied Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.) and Energy Engineering with the specialization Renewable Energy Technologies (M.Sc.) at RWTH Aachen University. Besides his studies, he worked as a student assistant at Drees & Sommer Advanced Building Technologies in Cologne in the fields of energy design and energy management. Since 2017 he has been researching at the Institute of Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate at the E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University.
