Fields of activity
Negar Mohtashami investigates the coupling of operational and embodied energy flows throughout the building lifecycle. She performs dynamic energy simulations and develops an optimization model for the cost-emission efficiency of the building’s envelope and HVAC systems. She has a keen interest in systematically integrating and automizing the circular economy approach in the life cycle of buildings for a better environmental impact.
CV
Negar Mohtashami received her M.Sc. in Architectural Technology from the Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran where she achieved the first rank in 2014. She then joined Ferdowsi University in 2014 working briefly as a Teaching Assistant. Between 2017 and 2018 she led a research project for Mashhad Municipality on environmental design strategies for residential buildings. Since 2018, she is a Ph.D. candidate at RWTH Aachen University focusing on Energy-Cost Efficient retrofitting scenarios during the life cycle of a building. She is currently carrying out teaching responsibilities in the chair of ‘Reuse in Architecture’ at RWTH Aachen University and is involved in an EU H2020 research project that develops circular energy-efficient modular facades.
