Martin Rätz deals with demand-driven ventilation for health centres as part of the „dECOnhealth“ project. He uses the simulation software „Modelica“ to model the ventilation system installed in hospitals. He develops various control strategies and assesses them by simulations in Modelica. Focus is to reduce energy consumption and costs while at the same time complying with increased safety and hygiene requirements.
Martin Rätz studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, spezialized in energy technology. Due to his master thesis he gained experience with machine learning in the context of building energy system engineering. During his studies, he worked 10 months as a student and 3 months as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate. His work focused on programming with Python in the areas of "energy flexibility of buildings" and "energetic simulation and evaluation of shopping centres". He completed his spezialized internship at RWE AG in Frechen. At the beginning of 2019, he took up his position as a research assistant at the Institute of Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate.
