Fields of activity
Katharina Breuer is investigating the optimal design and sustainable operation of air-to-air heat pumps. The goal is to develop an efficient and cost-effective heating, cooling and fresh air supply for high comfort in modern buildings. To do this, she uses dynamic simulation models to better understand effects from the system to the component level. She is currently working on the GreenBuildTec project, in which a prototype of a decentralised air-to-air heat pump is being developed.

While studying mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University Katharina Breuer worked as a student assistant at the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer and at the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate in teaching and research. Furthermore, she gained practical experience through a voluntary internship at Vaillant GmbH. Since May 2019, she is working as a research associate at the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate.
