Fields of activity
As part of the Scientific Accompanying Research Energiewendebauen - Modul Quartiere, Joel Schölzel is analyzing energy concepts and cross-evaluating research projects at the district level. With the help of model-based investigations of different district structures, he is developing profound findings to classify the contribution of district solutions to the energy transition more precisely. For this purpose, he also analyzes district-related business models and economic regulatory framework conditions.
Joel Schölzel first completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and subsequently graduated with a master's degree in energy engineering (specializing in renewable energy engineering). During a stay abroad in Italy, he gained experience in site analyses of wind power and PV plants. During his studies he worked as a working student at FEV Europe GmbH in the field of energy storage systems. As a student research assistant, he supported the accompanying research at the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate in the area of energy systems at the district level. He also wrote his final thesis there and subsequently started working as a research associate.
