Project completion of ELuS – Energy saving through air-quality management in school buildings

The project "ELuS – Energy saving through air-quality management in school buildings" was successfully completed: In a weekly "Exzellenz-MINT-AG" pupils of the Aachen Anne-Frank-Gymnasium, together with the EBC and the Heinz Trox Wissenschafts gGmbH, have examined air quality and thermal comfort in classrooms in the past school year.

In addition to an excursion to the EBC, participation in the category "Schüler experimentieren" of the "Jugend forscht" competition was a particular highlight: the three participating teams won the first, second and third place at regional level. One of the dedicated students even got to the state level award ceremony in Essen where his development of a CO2 level traffic light was awarded the special prize for interdisciplinary work of the Jugend Forscht Foundation. In addition, the student was awarded the special price for the creatively most valuable work by State Secretary Mathias Richter, representative of the NRW Ministry of Education.

Anne-Frank-Gymnasium was able to gain support from parents who will take over follow-up financing of the AG beyond the official project end of ELuS. ELuS was gratefully funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation within their "Our Common future" program.
