Six EBC members participated in the conference “Deutschen Kälte- und Klimatagung 2023“ from 22 to 24 November. The conference this year took place in beautiful Hannover and offered interesting presentations and good discussions in the field of refrigeration and heat pump technology. Prof Müller's team with three research associates also included two students who were able to gain their first conference experience in Hannover.

One highlight was that an EBC graduate won first place in the DKV student prize. Jannik Horst impressed the jury with his committed presentation and received this award for his outstanding master's thesis entitled "Simulative development and experimental testing of a reinforcement learning agent for the efficient defrosting of air-to-water heat pumps".

In addition, the EBC presented the latest research results through these lectures by

  • Patrick Henkel on the topic of "Analysing measures for the short-term reduction of energy consumption"
  • Tim Klebig on the topic of "Optimum vapour injection in scroll compressors"
  • Jonas Klingebiel on the topic of "Self-optimising defrosting control through the application of machine learning methods"
